As an Au pair in England, you will get to know a new culture and live with an Englisch family. You will also improve you Englisch. You can be placed all over the UK. Our partner agency in Uk is readily available to offer you support and advice but as your first point of contact, we are at your service.

1. Registration fees

Au pair are not charged placement fees. The registration fee (40 CHF) must be paid upon registration.

2. Travel expenses to England

The Au pair is responsible for payment of costs for obtaining the relevant Visas, as well as travel expenses to and from England.

3. Length of stay

An Au pair can stay in England for a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 1 year.

4. Requested language skills

Basic knowledge of Englisch is required before starting working as an au pair in England. Your language skills will be evaluated before your placement.

5. Duties , pocket money and free time

Your primary role is to look after children, that means: Helping them get dressed, preparing breakfast and meal fort them, playing with them and you can also expect light household duties. There are  4 categories of au pair in England: Au pair, au-pair plus & Summer au pair Programm, Tutor and Mother’s Help. The amount of the pocket money depends on which categories of au pair you choose . Mother's Helps or tutors are not officially part of the au pair cultural exchange scheme.

5.1 Au Pair Programm

· 5 hours per day, 5 days per week

· 25-30 hours per week including babysitting

· Babysitting can be 2-3 evenings per week

· Free time: Minimum 2 full days and 3 evenings

· Recommended minimum pocket money £70 per week

· Limited light housework

· No sole care for children under 2

5.2 Au Pair Plus & Summer Au pair Programm

• 6 hours per day, 5 days per week
• 31-35 hours per week including babysitting
• Babysitting can be 2-3 evenings per week
• Free time: Minimum 2 full days and 3 evenings
• Recommended minimum pocket money £85 per week
• Limited light housework
• No sole care for children under 2

6. Language course

The cost of the language course are paid by yourself. Public transportation costs to attend the language course can be paid for by the host family. However, there are a number of alternatives. The host family could buy a monthly train ticket for you, or lend you their car. This would require, of course, that you have a valid international driving licence.

7. Health and accident insurance

It is recommended for au pairs from EEA (European Economic Area) countries to have a health insurance policy before travelling to England.

8. Termination of Employment Contract

In the case of problems with your host family, our partner agency in Uk will be there to support and advise you at all times. Should they not be able to come to a mutual agreement, the contract can be terminating within 14 days and they will try to replace you.

9. Application documents

• Au pair application form filled in
• Police check
• Medical certificate
• 2 references in englisch
• Pictures of the candidate
• Driving licence (If applicable)
• Up-to-date certificate stating your level of knowledge in englisch. This document should also contain information pertaining to the length of the attended course.
• Written letter from the candidate to the host family, included:

Presentation of yourself, Childcare experiences, Hobbys, why do you want to work as an au pair in England and what your future plans are.

Important: Alle these documents have to be written in Englisch. The faster you send us all requested documents, the sooner we can find a host family for you.

10. Requirements

• To be aged between 18 and 27.
• To have basic knowledge of Englisch
• To have successfully completed compulsory education (High school)
• Driving licence (If applicable)
• To be in good health
• Good childcare experiences
• To be ready to work and live with a foreign family
